Many people, particularly women and parents, remain very secretive and discreet about their cannabis consumption. Why? It boils down to something as simple as they are afraid of what people will think. Stigma can be a b*tch.
But I'm sure y'all have started to notice that research is expanding around the use of cannabis - whether that is CBD products or THC containing products. The social stigma around cannabis is changing rapidly and a surprising force behind the shift is women. And moms. Or maybe it's not so surprising after all?
Statistically, in the past, men have smoked more cannabis than women. However, there are some new studies and a lot of data to show that the culture of cannabis is shifting. And the future of weed is female. They skew younger and are heavier consumers of cannabis than their male counterparts.
Which brings us back to stigma. Sugar Leaf has always been about supporting women and parents as it pertains to breaking the stigma around cannabis consumption. We are hosting and participating in a number of events this Fall and Winter that support the mission of de-stigmatization, inclusivity and helping our community.
